Des Moines, IA (May 26, 2017) – Connected Nation (CN) is excited about the future for Iowa’s families, farmers, and businesses as Kim Reynolds takes the helm as the governor of the Hawkeye State. Governor Reynolds understands that everyone belongs in a connected nation so they have access to higher quality education, more job opportunities, and better healthcare. During her years as a public servant, the one-time state senator and Lt. Governor has worked hard to improve the quality of life for Iowans by taking steps to improve broadband access, adoption, and use.

“Congratulations to Governor Kim Reynolds on being sworn in as the 43rd Governor of the great state of Iowa and for the milestone of becoming the first woman to hold the state’s highest office,” said Tom Ferree, Connected Nation President and Chairman.

“Governor Reynolds has been an ardent fighter for the empowerment of all Iowans and brings a deep passion for the use of technology in achieving that end. It is an honor to work toward her vision of expanding high-speed Internet through the Connect Iowa Blue Ribbon Initiative. Because of her continued leadership, tomorrow promises a day when Iowans of every stature and location will participate and thrive in the digital economy.”

Governor Reynolds addressed all Iowa residents on May 24 shortly after she was sworn-in to office. In that address, she laid out several priorities for her governorship. Among them is ensuring that no Iowan is left on the wrong side of the digital divide.

“Building a better Iowa also means connecting Iowa to the world by expanding high-speed Internet access, regardless of the size and location of the town. A connected community means better jobs, safer communities, better education, and better quality of life. And, it’s the expectation of our young people,” Governor Reynolds said during her speech. “As your governor, I won’t stop working until every Iowan, no matter where they live, has the same opportunities to succeed, have a satisfying career, raise a family, and have a great quality of life. It won’t be easy, but I know I won’t be doing it alone.”

Connected Nation applauds Governor Reynolds’ visionary approach to improving the lives of everyone in her state and looks forward to working with Iowans and the governor’s office to bring broadband access to every family, business, farmer, and community.
